In the very unlikely event that Donald Trump took up limbo dancing (although that would be a sight to see) he would exemplify the limbo cry – how low can you go?

In the latest G. Elliott Morris analysis Trump’s approval rating has a hit a new low of 33% while Democrats lead the House vote by 10%.

Morris’ new polling says 63% of Americans disapprove of the job Trump is doing. He finds that Trump has lost significant support among non-college educated white voters, independents and non-voters.

Indeed, he is even slipping with Republicans with the net approval rating among Republicans and Republican leaning independents falling from plus 54% in August to plus 43% this month.

Morris’ latest findings on Trump job approval show 33% approving and 63% disapproving. Among adults 50% strongly disapprove while only 15% strongly approve.

Among 2024 Trump voters strong approval is down to 35% – down from 53% in May 2025.

Democrats currently lead 50% to 42% among likely voters and lead on 10 of 13 issues including trust on handling immigration for the very first time. Significantly this has been a cornerstone issue for Trump and Republicans, yet voters are now rejecting both Trump and Republicans on the issue.

38% say prices and inflation are the single most important issue facing the country and 59% put it in their top three. 26% say they are better off than they were four years ago while 45% say they are doing worse.  24% say the country is better off and 58% think it is worse.

Just 7% say things are going well while 54% say they are doing poorly and major disruptive changes are needed.

Trump’s net approval on prices and inflation fell to minus 54% – 21% approving and 75% disapproving – the worst number recorded on any issue.

Of the issues Morris has polled – prices, health care, jobs, the economy and border security, immigration – are all underwater for Trump.

On AI – or whatever Trump wants to call it – Trump has 56% disapproval with 14% unsure.

The all-important mid-terms are looking very bad for the Republicans – and Trump of course – with Democrats trusted to handle most issues rated as their most important problems – health care, government funding and social programs, education, elections and democracy, trade, jobs and foreign policy.

Amazingly – on the Trump and Republican signature issue – immigration – he is leading only in deportations and then by only 1% – well within the margin of error.

Yet voters are somewhat cynical of both parties. When asked which party cares more about people like you 38% said Democrats, 26% Republicans and 22% neither.

Perhaps unsurprisingly there is significant demand from voters for changes to the political system. 54% say things are going poorly and major disruptive changes are needed – up from 52% in August and 49% in July.

A big problem for Trump is that among Republicans the share if those who say things are going well has fallen from 21% in January to 13% weeks out from the mid-terms.

…and despite Trump’s attempts to suppress the vote early voting is already enthusiastically underway.
