Grifter-in chief lies again

Donald Trump loves two things even more than he loves himself – gold adornment and sticking his name on things in return for money (mainly) or other forms of grifting.

His latest effort was exposed by Isaac Arnsdorf of The Washington Post (27/3).

It is hard not to have noticed that Trump loves Sharpie Pens. He uses them to highlight things and sometimes even spells correctly with them. read more

An update on Trump and that war and other things

Trump deeply underwater

Donald Trump has hit a major milestone – he is now underwater – and doesn’t have a positive rating on any issue rating.

Meanwhile Trump – as the grifter in chief – has failed to stop insiders making huge profits by placing bets before a new official policy is announced.

The declining role of religion in Australian society

It’s hard to escape religion in Australia even though it plays an increasingly minor place in Australian society.

Our parliaments open with prayers despite many MP’s – like many among the general public – having no religion.

Republicans on borrowed time

“HISPANICS LOVE TRUMP” Donald Trump said in 2024.  He was – for once – not boasting as he had won 48% of the Latino vote – more than any previous Republican presidential candidate had.

There was much analysis among pundits of the significance of this, and it was claimed to be a dramatic realignment of US politics as discussed in the last blog post. read more

Trump is now deeply underwater with Americans

Donald Trump may be destroying much of Iran but he’s also trashing his own ratings with voters.

G.Elliott Morris –now probably the most reliable US source of political data – has found that Trump has started a war that few Americans support.

He found that support for the US attack starts at 34% support and 44% oppose. The numbers were similar last year when Trump first bombed military targets in Iran just 16% supported getting involved in the Israel-Iran conflict with 60% of adults opposing military action. read more

The modern Crusaders

The Trump War on Iran is fast becoming a modern-day version of the Crusades with US military and others framing the war in deeply religious terms.

Middle East Eye (MEE) has reported that a number of US military commanders have told soldiers that Trump is “anointed by Jesus” and would bring about his return to Earth as part of Armageddon. read more

The Gaza death toll

The Lancet Medical Journal has re-assessed the Palestinian death toll and found that more than 75,000 people were killed in the first 16 months of the two year war in Gaza – that’s 25,000 more than the initial toll announced by local authorities at the time.

The Guardian (19/2) reported that last month a senior Israel security officer had told Israeli journalists that the figures compiled by Gazan health authorities were broadly accurate – contradicting years of denial. read more
